Sheridan & Jake
An Intimate Wedding in Mudgee
Some weddings announce themselves. Others unfold like a secret, whispered, deliberate, and all the more meaningful because of it. Sheridan and Jake’s wedding was the latter: an exquisitely intimate celebration, revealed only to those closest to them, and held in the golden quiet of Oaklands House.
On a clear, sunlit Saturday, the property seemed to glow from within. The light in Mudgee has a way of softening everything it touches, fields washed in warmth, long shadows stretching across the grounds, and a gentle stillness that feels almost cinematic. With just 21 guests in attendance, the atmosphere was less like a formal event and more like stepping into a private world curated with intention.
The ceremony began understated yet deeply considered, it carried a quiet emotional weight, heartfelt without theatrics, sincere without excess. There were no tears, only knowing smiles and the kind of composure that comes when something feels entirely certain.
Sheridan’s gown, the Francesca designed by Made With Love Bridal, was a study in modern romance. The detachable overskirt added a sense of drama for the ceremony, catching the afternoon light with effortless movement, before being removed to reveal a sleeker silhouette for the evening. Paired with a lace-trim veil, the look felt both timeless and distinctly her.
There was no traditional bridal party, only family, woven seamlessly into the day. Their daughters, Cleo and Celine, and niece Isla brought an unfiltered softness to the celebration, their presence grounding the elegance in something genuine and deeply personal.
One of the defining luxuries of this wedding was its sense of place. Every moment, from the ceremony through to the final portraits - was held within the grounds of Oaklands House. Just a seamless unfolding, with the property offering an abundance of refined, natural backdrops at every turn.
As the afternoon eased into evening, guests gathered for dinner, defined by its classic palette and elevated simplicity. Styled and florals by Mudgee Monkey brought a restrained elegance, green and white tones layered with texture, allowing the setting and the people within it to remain the focal point.
Dinner unfolded with an effortless intimacy. A single, cohesive guest experience, no separation, no hierarchy, just a shared table, thoughtful service, and conversation that flowed as easily as the evening air.
Music by Zoe Vrachnas carried the energy gently, never overpowering, always in tune with the atmosphere. The cake by AshyKo was a quiet indulgence, seamlessly woven into the evening rather than staged as a spectacle.
What defined Sheridan and Jake’s wedding wasn’t opulence in the traditional sense, it was restraint. The confidence to do less, but do it exceptionally well. To prioritise experience over scale, intimacy over expectation.
A hidden celebration. A luminous Mudgee afternoon. And a wedding that proves true luxury is found not in excess, but in intention.
