FAQs

FILM STYLE & APPROACH

Our approach to wedding filmmaking is natural, observational and unobtrusive. Our cinematographer moves from moment to moment in much the same way as a documentary photographer, capturing short, considered glimpses of the people, atmosphere and interactions that shape your celebration.

Rather than continuously recording the entire day, we document it through a series of individual moments as they naturally unfold. These are thoughtfully brought together to create a refined, music-led wedding film that feels emotive, cinematic and true to the experience of the day.

SIGNATURE FILMS

Our signature film is a beautiful 4-5 minute snapshot of your celebration, while our extended 8–10 minute feature film allows space for more moments, interactions and details from throughout the day.

Both films are creatively edited and set to licensed music. They do not include vows, speeches or voice-over woven through the film. We prefer the natural moments and visual storytelling to carry the emotion of the day without relying on a spoken narrative.

CEREMONY & SPEECHES

Full ceremony and speeches films are available as separate additions. These documentary films include professionally recorded audio and allow you to revisit your ceremony or formal speeches in full.

Professional audio for the ceremony and speeches is only recorded when the corresponding film has been selected before the wedding day. If these additions are not included in your collection, vows and speeches will not be professionally recorded, delivered separately or incorporated into your signature film.

Our full ceremony and speeches films are delivered separately from your main wedding film and follow a more traditional documentary format using multi camera angles and professionally recorded audio.

FIRST DANCE

Your first dance can be captured and delivered in full as a separate film. This preserves the complete dance and its original atmosphere, rather than only the brief moments that may appear within your signature film.

MUSIC LICENSING

All music used within our wedding films is professionally licensed through Musicbed. Music licensing protects both our couples and our studio while allowing your film to be shared and enjoyed legally.

You will be invited to nominate a selection of tracks from Musicbed that reflect the feeling you would like for your film. Our editing team will make the final selection based on the rhythm, atmosphere and natural pacing of your wedding day.

Commercial music from artists outside our licensed music library generally cannot be used due to copyright restrictions.

SOCIAL FILMS

Our one-minute social teaser is a professionally edited, vertical film created specifically for sharing online. It is separate from your main wedding film and is formatted for social platforms and mobile viewing.

All other wedding-day footage is captured horizontally in landscape format and is not intended to be individually repurposed for reels or social-media content.

ARCHIVAL FOOTAGE FILM

Our archival footage film provides a chronological collection of the usable footage captured throughout your wedding day. This is sometimes referred to as “raw footage”; however, it is not supplied as the original individual camera files.

Our cinematographer documents the day by moving between moments in a similar way to a photographer. Footage is generally captured in short observations of approximately 10–15 seconds, rather than through continuous recording for hours at a time. The archival film will therefore move from clip to clip as a series of visual snapshots from throughout the day.

The usable footage is lightly trimmed, gently colour graded and assembled chronologically into one continuous landscape-format film for personal viewing. It is not delivered as individual clips and cannot be directly recut or used as a collection of social-media content.

Unlike your signature film, the archival footage film does not include creative storytelling, licensed music, detailed sound design or the same level of colour grading and refinement. Camera movements, natural transitions between moments and brief clips are part of the archival format.

Test recordings, accidental clips, duplicate footage, obstructed recordings and technically unusable material are not included. Professional audio from your ceremony and speeches will only be available where the corresponding ceremony or speeches film has been selected.

The archival footage film is designed as a personal record of the additional moments captured throughout the day, rather than as a second polished wedding film.

DRONE FOOTAGE

Where it is safe and legally permitted, drone footage may be captured at no additional charge. As drone coverage is complimentary, it is not guaranteed.

Our cinematographer is CASA accredited and must comply with all Australian aviation regulations. Drone operation is dependent on weather, wind, venue restrictions and the surrounding airspace. Some venues are located within restricted areas where we are not legally permitted to fly.

Even where drone operation is possible, aerial footage will only be included when it naturally complements the setting and visual story of your wedding film.

COVERAGE

Your film coverage is aligned with your selected Modern Romantics photography collection, allowing our photography and cinematography coverage to begin and finish at similar points throughout the day.

Additional wedding-day coverage can be added when more time is required. Coverage refers to the time our cinematographer is present and does not mean that the cameras record continuously for the entire period.
